Our Beginner singing course caters for everybody who wants to learn how to sing. You receive a basic introduction to the voice and how it works, how to stand, how to breathe, how to sing in tune and we will give you a solid vocal training to increase the power, range and volume of your voice. You don't need previous experience to benefit from this course. It is a great place to experiment and learn the basics.
You do not need to be able to read music, hold a tune or keep rhythm and we cover a wide variety of different music styles from pop to gospel to jazz to folk to R&B to classical to world.
The classes provide a comfortable and encouraging environment to learn and all COURAGE TO SING trainers are particularly adept at helping even the most scared or out of tune person learn to sing in tune.
You will find yourself in a small, supported group (the maximum number we will take is twelve people per session); and you will be with people many of whom perhaps like you, have not sung for a long time or who are nervous at the idea of singing.
We will help you to find your voice, give you self-confidence training and show you how to use your voice to sing melodies and songs. We do this by singing together, doing vocal exercises, and breathing for singers, relaxation exercises, experiential expression techniques, discussion, backing vocals, preparation for singing in choirs where appropriate, sharing information and lots of singing. After our course you will be ready to take your place in choirs in London, choirs in Manchester or where ever in the country you wish to go. You will also be ready for our next level Intermediate level course group and solo singing should you wish to continue with us.
All singing classes are 1.5 hours each and courses are split into half terms of six-week blocks which can be booked separately or together. The classes' work on a rollover basis with different songs and material every six weeks and you can join at the start of any six-week block of classes. In each session we cover a different topic and there are topic-modules for the whole course, one each week.
Some of our venues run a twelve-week Beginner course after which you can go on to our Intermediate Level courses and some venues run a special twenty-four week programme which includes twelve weeks of group singing and twelve weeks of solo singing for BEGINNERS
