Lorrayn de Peyer

Biography

Lorrayn de Peyer is an international Singer-Songwriter, Psychologist, Life Teacher and third generation singer. She is the Founder and Director of THE COURAGE TO SING and is currently working with leading producers, musicians and songwriters in Europe and America on the release of her next album "From Within". She has toured in America, Europe and South East Asia singing in bands, shows, and musicals and accompanying herself at the piano and has released two albums.

She also has a BA with Hon's from Leeds University in Psychology and Sociology and has completed an extensive training programme in holistic health and complementary therapies. Lorrayn has practised yoga and meditation for thirty years.

Lorrayn began her professional music career as a singer in Manila, The Philippines by accident. After completing a contract with Voluntary Service Overseas as a College professor at Silliman she was on her way to Thailand through Indonesia when she was offered the chance to sing in a Night Club in Manila. This resulted in her forming a band together with Filipino musicians (Hilarious Dauag of 1001 Ways www.1001ways.ch).

She then spent three years at Berklee School of Music in Boston, Massachusetts studying music and pefromed regularly singing contemprary music , jazz, R&B and popular music styles, performing her own compositions. During this time she wrote, produced and directed many shows and performances of her work.

On her return to Europe she enjoyed residences in London's hotels and nightclubs and toured Switzerland, Germany and Scandinavia performing her songs while developing her song writing in the studio. She has been privileged to work with established writers, producers and musicians to include Barry Mason www.barrymasonsongwriter.com (whose credits include Delilah and The Last Waltz and is currently working with Michel Legrand amongst others) with whom she wrote The Courage to Win the Day to be featured on her present album.

Lorrayn has performed at many distinguished venues in the UK, America and Europe and has toured extensively in Europe, America, South East Asia and Africa, living on four continents. Her work has been written about and reviewed in the American and British press and she has appeared on British and American radio and TV. The Boston Press described Lorrayn as "a healer" with "practically nuclear energy" and an Evening Standard reporter said Lorrayn's work left her "tingling from head to foot". Lorrayn has always run her own band and members of her band have included amongst others Leo Traversa www.leotraversa.com; Hill Greene www.hilliardgreene.com, her talented brother Merv de Peyer www.mervdepeyer.com and singer songwriter Tom Monti.

Along side her music and singing Lorrayn's interest and training in psychology and the healing arts have led her to develop THE COURAGE TO SING offering singing courses and vocal training, and workshops for POSITIVE TRANSFORMATION. Over the last fifteen years she has led hundreds of concerts and workshops helping thousands of people find and develop their creativity, move through their fears and emotional blocks towards self-expression, growth and vitality. THE COURAGE TO SING has become a recognised brand name in the marketplace and an established business. She is the daughter of the celebrated clarinettist Gervase de Peyer www.gervasedepeyer.com and her uncle and one of her first voice teachers was her uncle Adrian de Peyer
